The Loving Hut (AKA The Peking Palace)

A Chinese vegan restaurant near Archway

  • Lots of veggie meat dishes
  • Does takeaway/delivery
  • Reasonable prices
  • Weird TV show on in the background
  • Delivery quality can be hit and miss

The Peking Palace is one of my favourite restaurants in London, though I feel like I should be a little embarrassed to admit that. It’s a vegan Chinese restaurant tucked away on the edges of zone 3, but there’s a couple of things that stand out about it. For a start, it’s all about the fake meat. Secondly, it’s a league above the Chinese buffets you find scattered throughout the capital.

As well as vegan versions of Anglo-Chinese classics like chicken balls with sweet & sour sauce, spare ribs, and egg fried rice you can also get a plate of mock duck for pancakes – or even a vegan fish & chips. It’s part of the Loving Hut organisation, which makes it affiliated with the Quan Yin Method. In practice this won’t affect your dining experience, beyond the TV show in the background.

About Nopudding London

Nopudding London was built entirely by Alex Pounds. It's designed as a more geography-centric guide of places to eat. Most veggie listings start with a table of text, but I'm normally trying to answer the question "Where can I get a good meal near _____?". Textual listings aren't very good at that.

I am available for hire, and you should follow me on Twitter.

Why only London?

I'm only adding places I've visited, as I'm more interested in making personal recommendations than being comprehensive. There are some other places elsewhere in the world, too, if you go looking for them...
